Private Alpha · Kuwait

Privacy

The minimum we collect, and where it goes. No third-party analytics, no ads.

Last updated: 30 September 2026 · Applies to goomkw.com and the GOOM Android app (private alpha, v1.0.0 Build 15).

The data we collect

GOOM is deliberately light on data. During the private alpha we collect:

  • Phone number — for sign-in via one-time SMS code. It's your only credential.
  • Three activity categories — steps, distance and active calories, read from your device's health data. These power your daily tracking and challenge progress.
  • Barcode lookups — the barcode you scan when you look up a food item (lookup runs server-side against Open Food Facts).

We do not collect your contacts, your location history, or your email — unless you give us your email in a form to get a reply, in which case it's only used for that reply.

How we use it

  • Your phone number signs you in — nothing else.
  • Your activity data verifies challenge progress and shows your daily numbers.
  • Barcode lookups fetch food data so you can log what you eat.

We don't sell data, run ads, or sync your activity to third-party fitness networks.

No third-party analytics

The site and the app carry no third-party analytics or tracking pixels. When you tap "Download", we count the tap (referrer, IP, user agent) so we know the alpha is landing — that's it. Everything stays first-party, on our own servers in Kuwait.

Forms & feedback

When you send a note — contact, bug report or partnership — we store what you type: your nickname, message, and anything else you fill in. Forms are rate-limited per device (5 messages per hour) to keep spam out, and a hidden "honeypot" field catches the most obvious bots. Your IP and user agent are stored alongside each note so we can spot abuse.

Where it's stored

Data lives on servers in Kuwait operated by Wuzziee (under Aurora). We keep backups for recovery. During the alpha the dataset is small — which is the point.

Children

GOOM isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for anything material, tell you inside the app before it takes effect. Questions? Use the contact form.
